Great little no-frills receiver with excellent sound [UPDATE: July 23, 2016] 31 months later, the Marantz is still going strong. I’ve since upgraded the TV to a Sony 55X850C and am using the HDMI ARC feature, which allows me to run all my sources through the TV and “slave” the Marantz to it, particularly handy now that I’m using Sony’s built-in Android TV OS a lot. Dolby Digital 5.1 passthrough works great through ARC; I haven’t gotten DTS passthrough to work, but that appears to be a limitation of the TV. HDMI CEC control works well too,…

Very nice basic 5.1 receiver Marantz is notorious for making very good quality products. I purchased this along with a new projector and 3D blu-ray player to replace an aging Denon. The Denon had the benefit of 7.2, but since for the foreseeable future I’ll be using 5.1, that was a worthwhile compromise.Having 6 HDMI and 3D passthrough was really the primary reason for the upgrade, as the Denon only had 2 HDMI and no 3D passthrough.
